Questions to ask every supplier
- Is each medical device registered with the Medical Device Authority (MDA), and under which registration number? Is the supplier an MDA-licensed establishment?
- Is the equipment for the intended clinical setting, and who is permitted to operate it? Check the registered intended purpose.
- What is included (accessories, electrodes, lenses, transmitters) and what are consumables?
- What installation, staff training and warranty come with it?
- Who services and repairs it in Malaysia, and is preventive maintenance offered?
- Can the supplier arrange a demonstration in your clinic?

What equipment does a physiotherapy clinic need?
It depends on the services offered. Common groups are treatment tables, electrotherapy and ultrasound, TECAR, laser or shockwave therapy, gait and rehabilitation equipment, foot assessment, cold therapy and taping supplies.
Should clinic equipment be registered with the MDA?
Ask every supplier for the Medical Device Authority registration number of each medical device and check it against the MDA register. Some products, such as taping and support pillows, are not medical devices.
